JHARKHAND Board 10th Results 2014 |
The Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) matriculation and intermediate results have not been impressive in the past few years. Keeping the mediocre performance of students in mind, JAC has initiated a slew of measures for the board examinations starting February 21, 2014. The first important step, which was taken in this direction, was to start free coaching classes for students of 10th Class. This proved to be an instant hit with students, who enrolled for the classes in large numbers. The second step was to organize mock tests for students of intermediate science.
The results of intermediate science had been very poor with only 38% of students passing in the state in 2013. To improve the results, we held a mock test for students, who are to appear in the examination this year. This will not only familiarize them with the new question pattern, but also help them work on their weak areas.
Many changes have been made in the question paper pattern this year as well. For the first time optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets will be introduced in this examination. Earlier the practical tests were written, but this year onwards OMR sheets will be introduced to help students save on time. This will also help them in competitive examinations.
Several proposals passed by the Jharkhand Academic Council are still pending with the government. These are inclusion of moral studies and nationality in the syllabus, among others. Teachers have hailed the move and think that the changes are going to improve the overall result of students. Asha Bage, principal of Bethesda Girls’ High School. When we were in school, the pattern was vastly different with more descriptive type questions, answers to which would be two to three pages long. However, with the introduction of objective type question and OMR sheets, students can score better.
Earlier practical exams were held only for science, but now a 20 marks practical paper will be held for mathematics.
